What you'll need to become a drayage carrier:
- Proof of insurance
- Minimum $100,000 cargo insurance, minimum $1,000,000 auto liability, and trailer interchange $25,000
- Insurer with B+ or better A.M Best Rating
- TWIC® certification for access to maritime ports
- Details about your modes, commodities, tractor/equipment counts, and certification
- Operating authority with the below requirements
- Valid interstate authority (intrastate-only carrier must also have an active U.S. DOT #)
- Satisfactory or NOT rated by the DOT
- If not rated by the DOT, you will be subject to additional qualification procedures Completed electronic Master Transportation Contract
- Completed W-9 form for tax purposes
